Titan Players and Families,
The Booster Program has organized a new philanthropic event – Titan Football “Souper” Bowl Food Drive.
All this week, we are asking our amazing families to donate non perishable food that will be donated to the Saddleback Food Pantry. Food can be dropped off at Coach Poston’s classroom/office throughout the week, but for those of you who are available, we would love to see as many players and families come to Tesoro at 10am next Saturday, February 2nd to organize the food, take a picture and transport it to the pantry.
All non perishable, non expired items are accepted but the most needed items are peanut butter, jelly, pasta and pasta sauce. If you didn’t remember to take a bag home at the end of the banquet, you do not need to have one. Feel free to use a bag or box from home.
Freshman Families – I know this is the first you are hearing of this. The boys who have 6th period lifting on Monday will get a bag, but in case your son isn’t in that class, you don’t need to have one to participate.
Lets see what an impact we can have on our community on February 2nd!
Please be sure to stop by the Tesoro Titan Football table during the 8th Grade Parent Night on Tuesday February 5th.
The event begins at 5:30 PM at the High School and will be filled with valuable information for all incoming freshman students and in particular, we would love to tell you a little bit about our football program. In addition, all Junior High camp info will be available at our table as the Jr. High Football Camp will begin in late February and the Jr. High Weightlifting camp will start in early March.
We look forward to getting a chance to meet and talk with you.

For those of you new to the program, this outreach drive was started about 5 years ago to honor one of our own. Donald Hogan was a student of Tesoro High School graduating in 2007. He and his family were also residents of San Clemente. He joined the Marine Corps and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 with his unit, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. While on patrol searching for an IED, he saw an insurgent pull a trigger wire to detonate an IED. Reacting immediately, he pushed one Marine out of the way, and placed his body between the IED and the rest of his squad, sheltering them from the blast. As a result, Donald traded his life to protect the Marines he served with. For his bravery and dedication, the Marine Corps posthumously awarded him the Navy Cross, the Nation’s second highest decoration for Valor. To honor this young hero, San Clemente and Tesoro High Schools are holding their third annual sock drive to benefit Americans still fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Middle East through the “Socks for Heroes” project. The goal is to collect 10,000 pairs of black or brown cotton athletic crew socks to be sent to Marine and Army Units still serving in-country for the holidays. The winner of the drive will be announced at half time THIS WEEK at the San Clemente/Tesoro Football game! Since the beginning of this annual event, both schools have collected enough socks and donations to ship over 35,000 pairs of socks to Marine and Army units serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
